Wapahani Grad leads Medical Mission trip

Here is the story about the fifteen 1975 Wapahani Alumni that will all be going on a medical mission trip to Rio Dulce River, Guatemala in early February 2017, the team and how it all came together.  See below for details on how you can donate and make a difference. 100% of the Monetary Donations collected will be used to purchase the much needed items listed below– strictly for the Guatemalan People. The (15) Wapahani Alumni are paying 100% of their expenses for this trip, out of their own pocket.

Bryan Buchanan (aka Buzza) is a 1975 Wapahani High School graduate. He has not been able to return back to the United States, nor has he been able to attend any of the class reunions, since he graduated from Wapahani in 1975. Bryan has been a leader in performing medical and dental work in the mission field for that past 30 years, in five different countries, with the last 16 years having been in Guatemala.

After the Wapahani All Classes Reunion 8/27/16, the class of 1975 had their own reunion later that evening. Some of the folks were talking about, I wonder where Buzza is? A few knew that he was in Guatemala doing some kind of Jungle Medic Mission. Bryan ended up talking to some of them after the reunion and many of them said they would like to come down to Guatemala to see Bryan and the great things he was doing. Bryan told his classmates if they put a team together of 15 to come to Guatemala, they could have some adventures and help with some medical clinics in the remote villages. Well, before he knew it, there was a full team set and ready. Fifteen is the maximum number of people allowed, because that is all the seats available on the shuttle bus in which Bryan drives to pick up everyone, to take them back to the remote area of Guatemala.

Trip is set for February 4 through February 10, 2017. The Wapahani 75’ Alumni team consists of:

Mary Ann Boggs Lowther, Joe Bebout, Mike Rozelle, Judy Southworth Cox, Rita Dragoo, Cheri Fisher Richard, Peggy Foreman Miller, Brian & Charla Hiatt, Vicki Reynolds Gibson, Susan McCloud White, Cinda Lackey Priddy, Lesta Hedrick Andersen, Shanna Humbert Gill and Bryan Buchanan.

The Liberty-Perry Alumni Association (LPAA) is very proud to support this group of Wapahani Alumni on this mission trip. Just another way of showing how Wapahani Alumni are making a difference!

The team will be bringing school supplies for kids who cannot go to school because they do not have money for books or supplies. They will be giving out much needed vitamins to adult and children who are very malnourished. There is a pharmacy to give out antibiotics and other medicines that the local people just cannot afford to get here.
